p.s. a friend incredulous at the choice the boat's name asked - you named the boat after a Buick? Well, at least it wasn't called the Roadmaster and Hoagy Carmichael would have been pleased....

Almost there....
Next week, we (my friends Ed, Richard, Francois and I) will be in France to take delivery of the sailboat that will be our home for the best part of the next two years. It has been a long wait for a builder who insists on only building a small number of boats a year but it will be a good one, worth the wait. She has the qualities of safety and sea-keeping that are key to survival at sea. The adventure is about to start, a dream to be realized before infirmity overtakes us and makes it a mere dream. More to come as we explore the coasts of France, Portugal and Spain before setting off across the Atlantic on Skylark's first ocean test.

Steve, wishing you and your crew-mates "Bon Voyage". I am now a "follower", so if you need any help from me (eg coordinating ransom payment), just "holler" on your blog. PK.
